Is Southwest a safe airline? Southwest Airlines is regarded as a safe airline in general. It has a strong safety record, with no fatal accidents in well than 30 years. Due to the airline's membership in the International Air Transport Association (IATA), it also adheres to the strictest safety regulations.
However, no airline can promise 100 percent security. A passenger was partially sucked out of the aeroplane in 2018 when a Southwest Airlines engine failed. Although it was a terrible catastrophe, nobody was killed.
